Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes wedding

Cruise to release wedding day song
Tom Cruise is reportedly planning to release the Top Gun classic You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' with his new wife, Katie. The 44-year-old Mission Impossible star serenaded his new bride with the Righteous Brothers' hit on his wedding day last weekend in Bracciano, Italy.

The Daily Star reports that the guests, which included some top music executives, were so impressed with his moving rendition that they gave him a standing ovation - and a chance to record the track as a romantic duet. The crooner is prepared to take up the offer as long as he can donate all the profits to the Church Of Scientology.

However music bosses are reluctant to channel the earnings into the controversial religion. A source said: "Tom's got a great voice. And he's loved that song ever since his Top Gun character Maverick sang it to woo his love interest Kelly McGillis. "And Katie proved how talented she is when she performed in The Singing Detective remake.

"Music chiefs know it would be a massive hit so they don't want to lose all the money to a bizarre religious following. "But Tom's adamant. He said the song is a symbol of their love and Scientology is the basis of their companionship."

John Travolta a no show at the TomKat wedding

Hollywood is buzzing about a very notable no-show at last
weekend's TomKat wedding -- John Travolta -- and there's
persistent speculation that Travolta's absence might have
to do with the guest-list snubbing of Travolta's close pal,
Oprah Winfrey.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding last weekend was wall-to-wall celebrities -- Jennifer Lopez, Will Smith, Victoria Beckham, Brooke Shields and on and on. But Travolta's absence was as prominent as all those attendees combined. Travolta is a longtime friend of Cruise, a fellow super-Scientologist, one of the first stars to see baby Suri during her prolonged seclusion, and was consistently reported to be set to ferry Cruise and friends to the Italian wedding in his John's own private jet.

John Travolta a no show at the TomKat wedding
So what happened? Sources say that the answer might be in the Big O -- as in Oprah. Winfrey is one of Travolta's closest friends -- she threw his 50th birthday party and has called him her "soul mate." Likewise, Kirstie Alley -- another bosom buddy of Oprah's and an avowed and public Scientologist -- also skipped the trip to Italy, even though other, more minor Scientologists, like Leah Remini and Jenna Elfman,
made it. And just to prove how Scientology-centered the ceremony was, Cruise's best man was David Miscavige, the head of the Church of Scientology.

All of this makes Travolta's absence all the more mysterious, a circumstance not helped by the response of Travolta's reps to TMZ's inquiries: "We weren't privy to the invite list," was their mystifying reply, though what we really wanted to know was whether their client had gone to Italy or not. John's reps then explained that they could not get in touch with him until after the Thanksgiving holiday.

LOS ANGELES -- When David Miscavige recounts his rise to power in the Church of Scientology -- a journey that began when he quit high school at age 16 -- it is mostly a story of war. War against renegade Scientologists. War against Scientology’s critics. War against its one-time arch enemy, the IRS.

But Scientology’s 38-year-old leader insists he is a determined peace-maker as well.

After years spent well outside the public’s radar screen, Miscavige says he plans to step forward now and take a central role in trying to end differences with those who still oppose Scientology, the self-improvement “technology” devised by the late L. Ron Hubbard in the early 1950s.

TOMKAT WEDDING...$CN STUNT

By Fiona Hudson in London
November 21, 2006 01:23am

THE fairytale Italian wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has been branded a stunt after the pair admitted they got hitched days before the celebrity bash. Critics labelled the lavish ceremony a sham intended to promote the Church of Scientology. Bracciano Mayor Patrizia Riccioni is considering taking back the honorary citizenship she offered the couple before they wed because the small village was so offended by the behaviour of Mr and Mrs Cruise. "It would have been nice for them to stop and wave," she said.

A Catholic priest in the village, Father Nicola Fiorentini, said the town felt insulted.
"It wasn't a wedding at all. It was just for publicity," he said.
The bride and groom are believed to be honeymooning in the Maldives - joined by best man David Miscavige, who is the head of Scientology in the US.

It has emerged a Scientology adviser sat at every table during the reception at the Odescalchi Castle to answer questions guests had about the unusual ceremony.
A more puzzling question has popped up in the wake of the release of the wedding photo - how is it that it appears to show Cruise, 44, looking taller than his third wife? In most photos before the wedding, Holmes appears to be taller than the Mission Impossible star.

The happy couple were seen boarding a plane about 6am (Rome time) after the wedding, sent off by wedding guests looking tipsy and still dressed in their formal attire. Jennifer Lopez reportedly ordered 12 pizzas at her hotel after the wedding.

3 MINUTE KISS ~ ?

CRUISE AND HOLMES ENJOY THREE MINUTE KISS
2006-11-19 15:47:01 -

TOM CRUISE and KATIE HOLMES surprised guests at their wedding yesterday (18NOV06) by indulging in a three-minute kiss.

The newlyweds sealed their marriage with a prolonged smooch, oblivious to the 150 family and friends at the ceremony.

But the couple's public display of affection was met with amusement from onlookers, with guests jokingly pleading with Cruise and Holmes to cease.

Several attendees yelled, "Stop! Stop!" after it became clear the kiss was a long-lasting one.

TomKat Wedding

Opera singer Andrea Bocelli sang at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' crazy wedding as a "gift," but he refused to sing "Ave Maria" during the ceremony.

The reason: Bocelli, a Catholic, didn’t want to disrespect the Roman Catholic Church.

That makes him the only Catholic who actually took a stand as Cruise, who was born Catholic, orchestrated a non-Catholic Church sanctioned wedding right in the Vatican’s backyard.

Not even Holmes’ poor parents, whose other three daughters were married in the faith, could put a stop to the proceedings.

The question now is, what does the future hold for Cruise? The New York Post called him a "nut" on its front page Sunday. "Saturday Night Live" mocked him in its update section for having space aliens at the reception. He has no idea that he’s the object of worldwide ridicule for this ludicrous pageant. Cruise is clueless. In a way, he’s become the new Michael Jackson.

It didn’t help that if the wedding guests weren’t members of Scientology (John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Leah Remini, Jenna Elfman, etc.) they were otherwise people to whom Cruise is more or less a stranger: Jim Carrey, Jenny McCarthy, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Richard Gere, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith and Bruce Willis .

Each and every one of them was there because they were connected to Cruise through his publicist or talent agent.

Of course, new best pal Brooke Shields, who was so offended by Cruise 18 months ago, was there (just wait 'til we hear about Brooke or producer-husband Chris Henchy doing a deal with United Artists).

You might ask: Where were the people who used to be billed by publicists back in the day as the Cruise pals? That list included Jamie Foxx, Cuba Gooding Jr., Paul Newman, Steven Spielberg and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Indeed, they were not present, although "Jerry Maguire" director Cameron Crowe and "Mission: Impossible 3" helmer J.J. Abrams happily showed up.

Cruise’s best man, according to wire reports, was Scientology chief David Miscavige. Also close by Cruise’s side: Tom Davis, the son of actress Anne Archer, a kind of a second-in-command to Miscavige and Cruise’s steady companion.

And while Katie’s sister, Nancy, was listed as the maid of honor, Holmes’ more recent best friend, Jessica Feshbach Rodriguez — daughter of Scientology’s first family and Katie’s "minder" since she joined Cruise’s camp in April 2005 — was front and center.

Not there: Any of Katie’s friends with the exception of a couple of super-secret loyalists. But no costars from any TV shows or films were invited, including the cast of "Dawson’s Creek."

Not invited: Jack South, who for 20 years has been the husband of Cruise’s mother, Mary Lee Mapother. He was still at home in Florida late last week watching football on TV and insisting to me during a very nice phone call that his wife had not left him forever.

I reported in this space a few weeks ago that Cruise’s mother had headed to Cruise’s Beverly Hills mansion in April when baby Suri was born.

Mapother had for years been a Eucharistic minister at the Roman Catholic Church in San Marco Island, Fla., but apparently she too has joined Scientology, along with Cruise’s sisters. Two of the sisters homeschool Cruise’s adopted children with Nicole Kidman, Connor and Isabella, in Scientology.

In the end, the wedding may be a fitting final chapter in Cruise’s career, a blissful blaze-out. He seems to have no idea that in America, at least, there are no fans left to take him seriously.

It will be all but impossible now for a new generation of film fans to see past his erratic public behavior, the Oprah couch shenanigans, the decrying of psychiatry and now the rejection of Catholicism for a religion invented by a science-fiction writer. Luckily, he has lots and lots of money.

New Critical Movie About Scientology - "Mind Polish"
'Mind Polish- Master Hubbard's Special Reserve' is a psychedelic dark comedy that takes a surreal look at Scientology, a self help religion hell bent on rearranging the world, one sucker at a time. What happens when a young man who can't get laid to save his life, seeks the help of madmen. A spiritual counselor with tourettes, Jeff Langton (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Price of Glory). A member who has been 'helped,' Lee Reyes (The Shield, Red Canvas) and a Psychotic celebrity as the figure head of the religion. Watch as they put him through the psychological ringer with disturbingly hilarious results. Loosely based on a true story, autobiographic.
